During the month of March in 2013, all Inspection Authorizations have to be renewed. Renewals are always in the month of March on odd numbered years. According to CFR 65.93(a), the IA must show completion of one of the activities in CFR 65.93(a)(1) through (5) by March the 31st of the even numbered year (2012).
You could attend one of our IA renewal classes for this year (2012).
If by March 31, 2012, you have qualified for the even year 2012, then you only need to qualify for the odd year (2013). To qualify for the year 2013, you can attend one of our IA renewal classes, or one of the other options available.
However, if by March 31, 2012 you have not qualified for the year 2012, options 1-4 are no longer available. To get renewed for 2012, only option 5 is available. Option 5 says: "Passed an oral test by an FAA Inspector to determine that the applicant's knowledge of applicable regulations and standards is current."
If you go to the FAA and take this option 5 and pass, that will renew you for 2012 and then you can take our IA renewal class to renew for 2013.
Keep in mind, from March 31, 2012 until you take the FAA quiz under option 5, you cannot exercise your IA privileges. Please review your FARs to help you determine the course you need to take.
